What a pay monthly website includes, costs and leaves you owning
Compare monthly and one-off website costs, page allowances, ongoing care and ownership. See what to confirm before choosing a Gold Oak website plan.
A monthly website price should explain the commitment as well as the first payment. Compare the pages, support, ownership and costs after the initial term. Gold Oak’s published options below are a starting point; the written scope and Customer Agreement confirm the actual project.
Monthly price and minimum total
| Plan | Monthly price | Standard pages | Twelve-payment total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | £30 | Up to 5 | £360 |
| Business | £40 | Up to 8 | £480 |
| Complete | £49.50 | Up to 12 | £594 |
These monthly options have £0 upfront and an initial twelve-payment minimum. Totals above exclude separately agreed extras. The first payment and service commencement arrangements are confirmed in the project documents. A website enquiry does not itself start an order or subscription.
One-off builds are a different option
One-off website builds start from £249.50. The final fixed price depends on the agreed pages, content and features. Hosting and ongoing care are separate; hosting is available from £7.50/month. Compare the complete scope rather than assuming a starting one-off price and a monthly plan describe identical work.
Monthly plans spread the build and initial service costs under their stated terms. One-off payment does not automatically include ongoing content production, an unlimited feature list or every third-party subscription. Ask what is included and what you will manage after launch.
Standard pages versus custom functionality
A standard page explains a service, business information or another agreed content topic. We settle the page plan within the selected allowance before the build. A separate page for every service and town is not automatically included or automatically helpful.
Advanced booking, ecommerce, custom scanners, CRM connections and automations require their own assessment. Identify setup, third-party charges, data handling and maintenance before commissioning a feature. Linking to an existing booking service can be a different scope from building a new system.
Domain, email and website care
Under the standard agreement, monthly plans include one .co.uk domain, one branded email mailbox, managed hosting, SSL and daily backups, alongside the agreed design, copywriting assistance and enquiry routes. Analytics and Search Console setup depend on authorised access and consent settings.
The agreement describes WordPress, theme and plugin maintenance for the items Gold Oak manages. Confirm the actual platform and managed components in your quote. Portfolio examples can use different tools and should not imply that every published site uses an identical platform or feature stack.
Small changes are not unlimited development
The published standard allowance is normally up to thirty minutes of small content changes per calendar month unless another allowance is agreed. Unused time does not roll over under the standard agreement. New pages, redesigns, major rewrites and custom functionality are separately scoped.
Describe the change before assuming it fits the allowance. Updating supplied wording or a photograph is different from researching a new article, reorganising several service pages or integrating a booking system. Gold Oak confirms extra work and charges before it is undertaken.
Choices after twelve payments
After all twelve initial payments, the bespoke website work is yours. Current published choices are Gold Oak Care at £20/month, hosting only from £7.50/month, or transferring the website elsewhere. The original build-inclusive price does not automatically start a new twelve-month term.
Care includes the ongoing service described in the agreement. Hosting only leaves content and software responsibilities with you as specified. For transfer, agree the files, database where applicable and customer-owned account access. Third-party software, fonts, stock assets and other licensed items retain their own terms.
Early cancellation and buyout
Early cancellation and early ownership are not the same as reaching payment twelve. The Customer Agreement sets out the actual cancellation and buyout arrangements. Read it alongside your order scope before choosing a plan, and ask for clarification where needed.
This guide explains the published offer and does not replace or change those terms. Do not assume that one monthly payment buys unrestricted ownership or that ending a service removes all charges already due. Any project-specific variation belongs in the agreed documents.
Website foundations versus ongoing visibility
The build includes the agreed search foundations. Optional Online Growth starts from £89.50/month, with an agreed workload and its own month-to-month, thirty-day notice terms. Advertising spend, extensive content, bespoke tools and other external costs are confirmed separately.
If review support is already part of an agreed growth workload, the same work should not be charged twice. A combined proposal should identify each element, overlap and any saving rather than hiding the total behind a broad package name.
Questions to settle before you choose
- Which pages, content and features are included?
- What is the initial minimum total and when do payments begin?
- What will be separately quoted?
- What happens after payment twelve?
- What do you own, and which third-party licences remain separate?
- What support and content-change allowance are agreed?
- How do approval, launch, cancellation and handover work?
